Who can come
A.A. has one requirement for membership: a desire to stop drinking. You do not need to call ahead, give your last name or say anything at the meeting. Many newcomers just listen.
The meeting is open: anyone interested in A.A. may attend, and family members, friends and other nonalcoholics are welcome as observers. After the meeting people sometimes stay a little longer to talk.
If someone you know or care for speaks Russian
Many people find it easier to talk about drinking in their first language. If a relative, friend, patient or client is more at home in Russian than in English, they can simply come on any Tuesday; no referral or paperwork is needed. You are welcome to come with them the first time.
A.A. is a fellowship of people who help each other stay sober. It does not provide medical care, detox or counseling, and it is not affiliated with any treatment center, church or organization. For medical help, please contact a doctor.
